🧂 Ingredients

For the Kadhi

  • 1 cup yogurt (curd), well whisked
  • 2 tbsp gram flour (besan)
  • 2 medium tomatoes, pureed
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste

For Tempering

  • 1 tbsp oil or ghee
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 dried red chilies
  • 1 pinch asafoetida (hing)
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

🍳 Instructions

  1. Prepare Yogurt Mixture: In a bowl, whisk yogurt and gram flour until smooth. Add turmeric, salt, and water. Mix well to avoid lumps.
  2. Cook Kadhi: Pour the mixture into a pan and simmer on medium heat for 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Prepare Tempering: Heat oil/ghee, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chilies, and hing. Sauté for a minute.
  4. Combine: Pour tempering over the simmering kadhi. Add tomato puree and cook 5 more minutes.
  5. Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
